How’s about yee?
It’s that time of the year. It’s time to go out for a lash! Time for green beer and getting your Irish on!!! Come celebrate in style at Downey Brewing Company. Who’s ready for round two of St. Paddy’s @ Downey’s??
We are releasing our famous St. Paddy’s Day Snake Banisher Stout!! ANNND we are putting it on Nitro!! The beer is legendary just like the late great Saint himself.
ST. PATRICK’S SNAKE BANISHER STOUT (NITRO): Just as St. Patrick banished all the snakes from Ireland, we hope this beer will banish all the bad beer from Michigan. We used lots of roasted grains to give you bold, roasty, rich flavors. Next we put the beer on nitro to give you that awesome cascade of bubbles and a frothy head. Get it here because this is a tap-room only beer. Sláinte! ABV: 4.3% IBU: 27 SRM: 42 STYLE
Another one of our Irish flavors will also be joining us for the party!! The likes of which we have not seen in many, many, a month!! Who remembers Downey’s Irish-American Red Ale?
DOWNEY’S IRISH-AMERICAN RED ALE: This beer is why we love brewing. We took the classic Irish Red and put an American spin on it. It has a hint of roasted grain that gives it dry finish, but a great nutty flavor. We used American hops in an Irish Beer Style. It pays homage to our Irish heritage and American flair. ABV: 5.0% - IBU: 24 - SRM: 11 - STYLE: Irish American Red Ale
BTW we’ll be serving up green beer and Irish tunes all night long. We’re opening at 10 AM instead of our usual 4 PM Saturday start. Also, we not shutting down at 10 PM either so you can get your Irish on like a blind cobbler’s thumb!!
WE WILL OFFER SOME TRADITIONAL IRISH EATS AS WELL!!
We shall announce more details later, D’yaknowhwatimeanlike?
G'luck Cha Anyway Laaad!!!

From the teeth of winter into the torrents of spring
We celebrate the spirit of the 1932 Ford Hunger Marchers
And move towards the opening of the Fort Street Bridge Park
With beer, and song, and love in our hearts...
On Friday March 2nd, we are hosting some awesome musical talent and raising some money for a great cause to help the community!!
Imagine a park located in the heart of southwest Detroit’s heavy industrial area that will commemorate historical events while enhancing the lower Rouge River and bringing new life and green infrastructure to the area.
The Fort Street Bridge Park will be built to commemorate the 1932 Ford Hunger March. A pivotal moment in automotive and American labor history. The protester's whose signs read “We want Bread Not Crumbs” clashed with police and Ford’s security forces escalated into what became known as the Ford Massacre which claimed the lives of five people leaving more than sixty injured.
The vision for the park is a resting spot for people traveling in the area with information about the Hunger March and also about the Rouge River and Oakwood community industrial history.
Here is a video about the park:
The location of the park is at the intersections of Denmark Street and Fort Street immediately adjacent to the recently updated Fort Street Bridge just down the road from the Marathon Refinery.
This event, MARCH ON, will help raise additional funds to bring the project to life. As it stands now the project has all the plans in place. They have permission from the city. All they need is some additional funding!!
To help with the fundraising we are charging $10.00 for this event. The price of the ticket includes a beer and music for the night!
You can purchase your ticket online or at the door.

Also, as a special thank you to our Dean’s List Members, we will be granting them VIP early access from 4PM-5PM.
