F.O.R.D (Fermental Order of Renaissance Draughtsmen)
On May 4th, 2019 (National Homebrew Day) F.O.R.D. brew club came to Downey Brewing Company and brewed up a batch of beer to learn how yeast effects the final taste of the beer. Nine different strands of yeast were used on brew day; each strand was placed into its own 5-gallon pal for fermentation. It has been debated, but the hypothesis is that the yeast is responsible for between 30%-50% of the final flavor of the beer. On June 9th we are putting that theory to the test!!
We are now selling tickets for the tasting event scheduled for June 9th, 2019. Proceeds from the event will go on to support two great local charities’. The Dearborn Goodfellas and Fish & Loaves of Taylor.
The Dearborn Goodfellas are known for their Christmas gift deliveries to underprivileged Dearborn children. Their motto states “No Dearborn child without a Christmas," but their organization is so much more than that! The Dearborn Goodfellows provide year round support for Dearborn children and their families facing exceptional hardships and emergencies.
Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry is a client-choice, food pantry, “Ensuring No One Goes Hungry” located in Taylor, MI. It is a faith based, non-sectarian organization staffed by volunteers serving those in need regardless of religious beliefs. The pantry currently serves residents of seven adjacent communities--Allen Park, Brownstown Township, Dearborn Heights, Romulus, Southgate, Taylor, and Woodhaven.
Tickets will be $20.00 online and $25.00 at the door.
Your ticket supports both charity’s and ensures your spot to taste all 9 different beers during the tasting event!!
