We are having our annual St Practice Day Party because we all know practice makes perfect.
It means it’s time to go out for a lash! Time for your favorite beer drinking holiday and getting your Irish on!!! Come celebrate in style at Downey Brewing Company. We’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve this year.
Firstly, we are releasing our famous St. Patrick Snake Banisher Stout!! ANNND we are putting it on Nitro!! The beer is legendary just like the late great Saint himself.
Second, we have a very delicious Irish Red called Hooligan. I’d recommend one or two of those for sure. Nice, dark, malty richness.
Third, SHAMROCK will be back back!! This one is magic folks.
SHAMROCK: This beer is half English IPA, half American Pale Ale, and half Irish Red. We took the recipes of three different beers and mashed them all together. It is an interesting take on three different styles. So how did we fit three beers in one? Magic! ABV: 6.0% - IBU: 40 - SRM: 5 STYLE: English Pale Mild Ale

Hawaii became a state on August 21, 1959. Since we love a party and have had annual Luau parties prior to COVID we thought this was the perfect day to bring back an annual event. Details to follow on food and fun will be coming soon. Mark your calendars.

Are you feeling Chili?
You know what goes good in the dead of winter? Chili. Chili does. So far the winter has been kind to us but it’s Michigan so you never know. Either way we are excited to announce our 6th annual chili cook-off on January 18th!!! Mark your calendars!!
Rules:
Just like last year we are going to keep it simple. There will be just one category. “BEST OVERALL.” What does best overall mean? I don’t know you tell me. Just go with what you feel, maybe try and please the crowd, maybe spice it up. Or go with something unique. Beans, no beans, the choice yours. Get creative, try a chicken flavor or something else you’ve got up your sleeve.
FREE ENTRY. FREE TASTES FOR ALL THOSE VOTING.
On the day of, come between 2 and 3 pm to register yourself and your best chili.
Serving will start at 3 pm.. We will have a ballot box and the chilies will be judged blind by all participating and visiting the taproom that day. [ONE VOTE PER PERSON]
- The chili with the most votes will be awarded 1st place
- Second most votes = 2nd place
- Third most votes = 3rd place

F.O.R.D Home Brew Club vs Motor City Mashers vs Downriver Brewers Guild. Each club came up with a recipe and brewed at the brewery. We release all three beers and keep track of sales of pints and cans sold. Each sale is a point. Whoever has the most points in the winner. They will win the Brewer’s Cup and be the Give Back Tap. They will receive $1 from each pint of their beer sold at the taproom. The contest is Sudden Death and ends when the first tap at the brewery runs out.
Celebrate the repeal of the 18th Amendment with beer and fun food. Lucky’s Food Emporium will be joining us.
Who’s tired of paying too much to eat out on Valentine’s Day but still wants to celebrate. We have a solution, bring a dish to pass. We will have beer, wine, cider, seltzer, pop, and water. We will play love songs and celebrate love. Come as a single or couple, everyone can celebrate love, food, and friends.
March 17th is our annual St Paddy’s Day Celebration. We will have our Hooligan Irish Red, our Shamrock Ale, and Our famous St Patrick Snake Banisher Stout on tap along with other favorites.
We’ve got the space to celebrate so you can find room for your entire clan. There is the main brewery area and fancy super awesome newly renovated large event space perfect for Irish Drinking songs and dry Irish stouts! We’ve got it all!!
Wear some green, dance, be merry!! Live Life! Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day! We will have some super tasty corned beef sandwiches available from Liles for sale along with chips and pretzels.
We’ll also be celebrating the Saturday before on March 11th for “St. Practice Day” so take your pick on which day to celebrate or be really, really, Irish and celebrate both!
